John Butler Trio, Terminal 5 11/10/2007

Incroyable. Magique. Déclassé. Magnifique. Fou. Sympathique. Bref le concert pour l’instant. John Butler est un génie. A la Ben Harper, il change de guitare a chaque morceau, utilisant toutes les tailles de guitare, et le banjo. Il joue avec le public comme personne, nous balance des “Peace Love Peace” entre chaque morceau. Il a passé 2 heures sur la scène à nous rendre fou. Un sans faute. Et Zack m’avait grogné ce concert avant d’y aller. Oiseau

Just perfect. An incredible performance, John Butler is an amazing guitarist and artist, involving the public during all the concert. The drummer is (totally high and) so good. The bassist is excellent. The best concert until now.

Marching Band, Washington Square 10/31/2007

Washington Square, le parc de NYU. De la musique tous les jours, du saxo au reggae hassidique en passant par la contrebasse. Arriver en cours avec le sourire, ca existe. Assis sur un banc à manger un schwarma, j’entends un orchestre jouer. Je vais les filmer, et c’est un show que je vois devant moi. Rythme, sourires, et 2 vieux cons qui passent devant ma caméra. Appréciez les petites chorés du groupe…

You wanna have fun while you go to classes, go to NYU. A huge park in the middle of the university where people play all kind of music every day. One marching band playing during my lunch. So good…

Justice @ Terminal 5, 10/23/2007

Justice… Je pensais comme beaucoup que c’était 2 ptits cons qui se faisaient de l’argent avec pas grand chose. Début prévu a 7pm. Rendez-vous avec Jeremie, Olivier et Marouen. Rien. 8h30, 3 mecs montents sur scène pour 40 minutes d’horreur. Ils se foutent de notre gueule? Puis la croix s’allume. 2 murs de 18 enceintes autour, et ils rentrent. 1h de folie. Le public est en transe, ils remixent en live leur chansons, avec une qualité de son énorme, ils sont bons, et tellement à fond… Ca s’appelle se faire fermer sa gueule.
Justice, 2 french guys. I took 3 places to go there with Jeremie and Olivier. I was not expecting something crazy, but why not… Their songs are good, but why everyone speaks so much about them? A horrible opening band. A long long wait. And then Justice, 1 complete hour of pleasure, happiness and music. Do not judge before you see.

Surprise in the subway- “Let her be” by a homeless man, 10/23/2007

Je pars de chez moi pour le concert de Justice. Ligne 1 du subway, un mec chante “Let her be” de Hootie and the Blowfish. Une simplicité incroyable, une voix en or, la même que le chanteur . A s’y méprendre (je m’en rendrai compte plus tard). J’écoute, je laisse passer le métro, et je me rends compte quelques secondes avant que le métro arrive que j’ai mon appareil sur moi. 17 secondes seulement… Suffisant pour comprendre.

Concert de Monsieur Raul. Pour ceux qui le connaissent pas, c’est un aveugle qui joue incroyablement bien de la guitare, qui fait de la trompette avec sa bouche, qui a un rythme incroyable, et en plus qui est sympathique. Bref un artiste énorme… Première au Highline Ballroom, et découverte du concept de manger détente (en attendant 1h30 la bouffe quand même) à une table avec un patron de la musique qui joue en face de toi. New York
